    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Keith Warner, a well-known Chicago radio engineer since the 1970s, passed away yesterday at the age of 60. He had been battling leukemia for many years, as well as various other health issues following an immune system transplant four years ago. Warner had most recently served as the Chief Engineer for WILV-FM (now WSHE-FM), before stepping down due to his health woes in August 2012.
    He has been building/maintaining radio station studios and transmitter sites in and around Chicago for decades.
    After graduation from Lane Tech High School in 1973, Warner began working for WEDC-AM (now WSBC-AM) and later with WLOO-FM (now WSHE-FM). Among the many other Chicago stations he worked for were WBBM-AM, WFYR-FM, WWBZ-FM, WABT-FM, WIIL-FM, WPNT-FM, WLUP-FM, WTMX-FM, WDRV-FM/WWDV-FM, and WILV-FM. He was with Bonneville Chicago, which became Hubbard Radio Chicago, since 1997.
    Co-workers of Warner's say he almost single-handedly built new studios for The Drive (WDRV-FM/WWDV-FM) when the station launched in 2001. Coincidentally, The Drive's studio was in the very same space within the John Hancock Building as the studio for the former FM 100, which Warner had built many years before for Century Broadcasting.
    Along with his terrestrial radio work, Warner was also a big ham radio enthusiast, known by KA9MYG. He served as President, Director, and engineer of the FishFAR Radio Group, a system of radio repeaters for the amateur radio community around Chicago and its suburbs.
    In addition to his radio/electronics passions, he also deeply loved NASCAR, summertime boating, bowling, music, and of course, his wife of 11 years, Linda. He and his wife owned the Rivers Edge Pub in McHenry, which closed in 2015.
    A memorial service for Warner is being planned for June 1st* at Willow Funeral Home, located at 1415 W. Algonquin Road in Algonquin, with a funeral mass taking place the following morning.
    *UPDATE: The visitation for Keith Warner will be on June 2nd from 3:00pm-9:00pm at Willow Funeral Home, with a funeral service the following day at 10:00am at the same location. A reception to celebrate Warner's life will be held on June 3rd from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the Broken Oar, located at 614 Rawson Bridge Road in Port Barrington.
