This past weekend was the Summer support your parks weekend with Parks on the Air. Jason (KC5HWB) hosted a group of us at the Ray Roberts State Park here in North Texas. It was nice to get out again and meet new people while enjoying the hobby. A couple highlights from the weekend was helping a Tech get on HF, which led to him wanting to upgrade ASAP. The second was getting to introduce someone new to the hobby. He is a 2nd Lt in the Army training at Ft. Sill and drove down to meet his Dad and hang out with us at the Park. He had a blast. I really enjoy this hobby and love to share it both in person and on YouTube. 73

Had to LOL at the above quote, so true! I activated K-2381 (Baxter SP, Maine) on Sunday (7/18/21) without cell phone/internet service. Took me about 25 CQ calls at 50w SSB 40m and then my first station spotted me. 20 minutes later, I logged about 25 QSOs. Also did not know it was Support Your Park Week.
