That’s why it’s called a scatterplot - it (the relationship) a representation or abstraction of what’s going on. The relationship has to weight all of those maxima and find something that tries to make sense with the various counting errors. Also - the relationship is based on a 13-month averaged value - not my choice but the common measure in the field and one that masks a lot of stuff… I’m not going to hand fit the relationship to match better a few cases that seem like systematic outliers.

data is taken from SILSO - see the website. There hasn’t yet been a monthly mean of that magnitude - I was most likely referencing daily values in a sarcastic manner. Post terminator that plot will have to be rescaled.

I miss Art Bell, he gave midnight broadcast radio the whole magic of listening too. When he died I feel like it also died

It is actually something I consider as my ham radio dashboard

 

One thing a low solar cycle is good for…..amp sales. I don’t own one, don’t plan to, but to each his own. Not having one has made any competition with powerful stations for a DX contact near impossible. I was talking to a ham across the country recently. His signal was S-7, S-8. Perfectly fine audio. He said his amp was warming up. I replied, “ you don’t need it” but he powered up anyway. Now he was 20 over S-9 and just a tad wide. I guess the point to my ramblings is if we have a good cycle, I’ll be tickled and turn my radio on more. This will be the last cycle for me. I’ll never live to see another.
