    Donald R. Finch, KO4PD SK

Donald “Donnie” Ray Finch, 81, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born January 20, 1938, in High Point and was the son of the late Charles Dewey and Nancy Russell Finch. He was a resident of the Archdale and Trinity community for his entire life and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Sears following 33 years of service as a service technician. Donnie was an active member of Archdale United Methodist Church where he was a member of the George Elder Sunday school class. Following his retirement, he served his church in many capacities and will be remembered as a gentle, dedicated servant. Donnie enjoyed golf, amateur radio, fishing, camping, Boy Scouts and music, especially his guitar. Most of all, he enjoyed the simple joy of being with his family and friends. Donnie also worked as a part-time funeral associate with Cumby Family Funeral Service for ten years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Stella Shackleford and Vada Keever and a brother, Lloyd Taylor.

On December 25, 1956, Donnie married his high school sweetheart, Bobbie Kidd Finch, who survives of the home. He is also survived by his children, Susan Finch Daniels and husband, Greg, and Charles Ray Finch and wife, Lorri; and many other loving family members and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Archdale United Methodist Church with Rev. Allan Van Meter, Rev. Harold Shives and Rev. Richard Bryant officiating. Private entombment will take place at a later date in the church columbarium.

The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 AM Saturday in the church sanctuary prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Archdale United Methodist Church Columbarium Fund, P.O. Box 4096, Archdale, NC 27263; or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, 27262.
