Harvey House on-the-air - September 8, 2018 - Special Event

KC5BG, assisted by other local ham radio operators will activate the Slaton, TX Harvey House Special Event Station. The annual event scheduled for the second Saturday in September (this year September 8) will be on the air between 1500 and 2300 UTC, (10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. CDT). But listen for us on Friday and Sunday as well. At this time 20 & 40 meter voice operations are planned with maybe an excursion into some digital modes.

“Fred Harvey civilized the west with his “3000 Miles of Hospitality” that consisted of an extensive chain of Hotels, Shops, and Restaurants along the Santa Fe Railway, staffed by a professional, customer service army which included the famous Harvey Girls.” http://harvey-house.info/

There were 84 Harvey Houses along the Santa Fe Railroad. All located next to or very near the railroad tracks. If you hear trains in the background, well that is part of the show.
