Most of these scams come out of Nigeria. Judging from the grammar and spelling, I'd say that is where this one originated.

    That shipping label....

With his name and FT9000D appears really convincing. Just can't be too careful these days. Good Job Fred

Many years ago I saw a ad in the local newspaper for a corvette for sale for
$75, I figured it was a misprint and didn't think much about it. A few days
later there was a article in the paper about a woman who sold her husbands
corvette for $75. Seems he was a doctor who had run off to Hawaii with his
secretary and then gave his wife permission to sell his corvette and send him
the money. I bet he was a little upset with her.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was almost taken once but thank goodness Pay Pal helped me out.

I am stunned Fred that you have such little respect for cancel patients! I thought you were better than that! ;-)

This guy has been around for quite some time. I googled the name "Annette Swartz" that he used and found another sad story from 2013.
The whole thing looks identical and the name appears as the account name again, down in the article a ways.

Fred- your my hero for striking back at these bottom feeders. I was riveted to my seat reading the banter you played so well. I enjoyed so much this article I will make a donation to QRZ. Is it possible you could do it again? Not sure if I can wait for your next round at fighting evil! Bravo Fred!

With internet VOIP services (even something cheap like Magicjack) I suspect it's quite easy for anyone anywhere to have a US phone number.

Google Voice in about 2 minutes. Just have to be able to supply another number to "verify" it.

Very well done, Fred. This sort of thing will never cease, but your efforts can keep some others from getting taken.

That said, I simply do not understand why anyone would buy a piece of used equipment with no verifiable documentation, sight unseen, from an unknown party. Trust in human nature? An irresistible desire for a bargain? The same spirit that leads people to casinos and lottery tickets? Perhaps I am an incorrigible cynic, but I just don't get it. Sorry if I am raining on anyone's parade.

Never went to med school? You could show him a (doctored) medical license complete with your photo id..;-) "this license holder is certified to use power tools on your feat" (feet) and you're a professional says so right here... He-he..
Thanks for the reminder, this shows how easy it is to be scammed..
