Australian amateurs have lagged the world in some operating privileges. For example they are restricted to amongst the lowest output power in the world (120w CW, 400w PEP SSB), lack 5 MHz access and pay relatively high annual licence fees. VK amateurs have been heard openly questioning the quality of representation to the authorities. They are also disunited with two bodies claiming to represent them, though only one is an IARU member. However relief may be at hand with a revolution in repreaentation, promising, amongst other things, a 3 kW output power limit. Learn more here:
