    Peter Price, GW3LXI, 14th December 2020
    RadCom Technical Editor | December 21, 2020
It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of Mr Peter Price, GW3LXI on the 14th of December 2020 at the age of 92 years.

I have known Peter since the 1960s when he was instrumental in guiding me into the hobby of amateur radio, as he was for many other budding hams and SWL’s with his radio lectures for those preparing for the C and G Radio Amateurs Examination. He was a founder of the successful and very active Pembroke and District Amateur Radio Club, formed in the 1950s. Professionally, he was a Post Office Telephones engineer and, later, director of marine radio communications, businessman and service engineer on the Milford Haven waterway, based in Pembroke Dock.

He was a very active radio amateur and loved working the DX and especially the far-off remote islands in all four corners of the world. There were not many countries he had not worked, the total being well over 300. He also enjoyed local operating on two metres and UHF via the GB3SP repeater. He could be heard and worked there in the evenings until quite recently, before he became seriously ill and had to go into hospital where he passed away. He inspired and encouraged new entrants into the hobby until recent times, when his health deteriorated and he lost his sight and mobility.

My wife Barbara, MW0RLD and I will miss him of course, as will so many others far and wide with our mutual interest. We have been invited to attend his funeral service, subject to any Covid 19 lockdown restrictions on 30th December and where, I will be saying a few words about our friendship, his amateur radio life and experiences. His passing marks for us the end of a local radio legend, character and from an era never to be forgotten.

    Tribute by Martin Shelley, GW3XJQ
