The TEN-TEC Legacy Nets (TTLN) is excited to return for our Fourth Year serving as an 2023 International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) World Amateur Radio Day (WARD) Special Event Station.

For 2023, the IARU has partnered with the United Nations to promote Human Security for All (HS4A).

Traditionally, WARD has been a one-day event but for 2023, the event expands to two weeks and is already underway.

While our cast of Volunteer NCS's will focus on the 24-hours starting on April 18th at 0Z, we will additionally offer activations on 80m/40m/20m/15m on SSB and, new for 2023, CW activations are planned between 4/13 and 4/25.

Every logged Participant on any band/any mode is eligible for a Certificate of Participation.

Participants confirmed on any (3) three bands, SSB or CW, are eligible for a Clean Sweep endorsement.

To receive a Certificate, email log information to wardcertificate@gmail.com

In the spirit of freely celebrating Amateur Radio around the world, there are no fees collected for the Certificates which are all sent via email in .pdf format, and additionally upon request, a formatted .jpg for placement on your QRZ page.

A flashing "On Air" graphic with the current activation frequency/mode will appear at the top of the W1W page when on-the-air.

Additionally, for the next two weekends, all TEN-TEC Legacy Nets will operate as W1W activations - for Net schedules, visit: https://groups.io/g/TENTECLEGACYNETS

All W1W SSB activations will use Netlogger as the primary Check-in tool. Once the Netlogger queued Check-ins are logged CQ calls will be made.

Netlogger is a free download here: https://netlogger.org/ supporting Windows/Mac/Linux - no smartphones or tablets.

A free, view-only resource to view Netlogger activity within the browser of your choice is Netscraper, viewable here: https://www.k3clr.com/

All W1W CW activations will be CQ only - no Netlogger.

Please spot to http://www.dxsummit.fi/#/ and https://www.dxwatch.com.

The above information, and more, is available on the W1W QRZ page.

On behalf of our esteemed TTLN Volunteer NCS's and the IARU, we look forward to welcoming you to W1W.

    73,
    Marc - W4OVT
    TTLN Founder/Facilitator/WARD Coordinator

Getting a number of questions "What is your activation schedule?"

One way to predict, and participate in a W1W activation is to review our TEN-TEC Legacy Net schedule here: https://groups.io/g/TENTECLEGACYNETS

For the next two weekends, all TTLN Nets will operate as W1W.

For these and other activations, the W1W QRZ page will display an ON-AIR graphic at the top of the page with freq/band/mode information below.

To view the additional (10) ten worldwide World Amateur Radio Day Participating Stations, visit: https://hs4a.iaru.org/ and scroll to the bottom of that page.

To view the progress of each Participating Station, visit: https://hs4a.iaru.org/stats which reveals W1W currently in 5th place with several CW activations not yet reported.

W1W is 100% old school Amateur Radio earning Check-ins the old fashioned way, SSB and CW only...so, LET'S GO TEAM W1W - get those MIC's talking and those Paddles swinging/Keys clicking - we are counting, literally, on YOUR Check-in!

    Namaste Jon:
Visit https://hs4a.iaru.org/ and scroll to the bottom of the page to see all (11) eleven Participating Stations - several are operating on FT8.
We are going to activate several 15m SSB sessions in the upcoming days - maybe we can get you into the W1W Log.

Our lead CW OP is working on his 15m antenna which we hope to have on-air soon.

    Good luck,
    Marc - W1W/W4OVT

Thank you very much for the prompt reply. Unfortunately I have only a VHF equipment at present, though I used to work regularly on CW with a hybrid homebrew QRO in late 1980s. As part of my effort to popularise World Amateur Radio Day 2023, I have prepared a YouTube video: https://youtu.be/C0gNznsRw5c I am also announcing World Amateur Radio Day 2023 on all the local VHF nets to which I am checking in and in the WhatsApp groups in which I am active, to promote activities in the region. I am sure that there will be good participation from our region as well.

The IARU 2023 World Amateur Radio Day continues with W1W offering SSB activations having completed our CW activations.
For those seeking CW WARD contacts, look for N4A activations.

W1W, N4A, and K4A have submitted up to date logs to the official IARU/HS4A logging site here: https://hs4a.iaru.org/

Want to see if you are in the IARU WARD Official Log? Easy - just go to https://hs4a.iaru.org/logbook

Also check out the Statistics resource here: https://hs4a.iaru.org/stats - some interesting data there.

Hope to work YOU on an upcoming W1W SSB World Amateur Radio Day Overtime Activation.

And remember to follow the instructions on the W1W QRZ Page to email your 2023 WARD Certificate of Participation request - as in past years, the Certificate is FREE as W1W does not collect fees for the event, past, present or future.

    73,
    Marc - W1W/W4OVT

    Activation #20: 04/19 - 14.318MHz -76 Check-ins
