POTA's Big Announcement: NEW Parks on the Air Plaque Event

    Parks on the Air leadership has been grappling with whether or not to add a competitive event to their increasingly popular worldwide portable amateur radio program. The answer is now clear with today's announcement to create a new, stand alone, competitive event: the Parks on the Air Plaque Event. The event is scheduled to take place over 48 hours from June 3-4, 2023 and every June thereafter. Watch the video for an overview of the rules, award categories and to hear directly from POTA founder and president Jason Johnston, W3AAX.

    Cholesterol plaque is bad for the heart, just as is alpha-7 antagonist on the brain. Oh, an award plaque... silly me! :D

    Keep up the great work; I've worked a couple two three POTA stations.

    WELP say good bye to the casual POTA.. This is the end to a great thing. The not having to work towards an award, just ended. With in 1 year it will be just another contest..

    It's actually gotten much more 'competitive' in the past year or so without a 'contest'.

    I've noticed more and more of the 'radio bullies' fighting to get that QSO than before. Sometimes it's almost like rare DX. Turn up the power! CALL! CALL! CALL! Gotta get that park by whatever means possible! Step on anyone that gets in your way! TAILEND if you have to! It's very dis-heartening.
