Nice looking antenna; looks sort of Mil-Spec 'ish. Life's too short for QRP operations and cheap Chinese hammy radios. JK, sort of.
I activated park K-7839 in Illinois today and with that same antenna you used in the video and 20 watts with a Xiegu G90 made contacts as far as Alaska and Hawaii, I was impressed.
I installed one on the back of my Jeep for a POTA activation this past summer. Obviously, it can't be used while moving. What I did was I used an existing 3/8" stud mount and used a stainless 3/8 bolt to secure a small piece of flat aluminum to the stud mount. I then got a 12mm 1.5 nut and bolted the takedown mast pole through the aluminum plate. Then I assembled the rest of the antenna and screwed it into the bottom section. It worked well, tuned up with SWR below 2:1 across the whole 20m band.
Does anyone round here have a JPC-7? I've been looking at the JPC-12 and it seems well made, but the JPC-7 kit is on special offer round here - less than twice the price of the JPC-12 and including a good tripod. I don't think I would be able to use it as a dipole most of the time - can a JPC-7 be deployed as a vertical, using just one half of the dipole? If so, I would go for that, giving me the option of the dipole when time and space permit... Martin (G8FXC)
