It was another great month in the Parks on the Air program. November had just over 300,000 contacts made by 1,335 operators and over 29,500 hunters. In total 3,152 parks were activated from 23 Dx entities. Next months update will not only be the December wrap up, but also the 2021 yearly wrap up.

I'm hoping to get my setup ready to start doing POTA by the spring. It looks like fun.

POTA is awesome! Thanks for all the work you guys do keeping POTA running, keeping the website up and processing all the logs.

POTA is busy even in the winter, why not sooner :D

I did one activation last week and it was getting really cold. I need to find a better way to use the hamrs app and have gloves on at the same time.

I agree !!! My wife and I operate from parks all winter in Colorado, we stay in the car :)

I made 380 QSOs on CW from parks in November, I use a QRPworks SideKar Extreme for CW and logging on CW and SSB.

It's a 32 ft HD fiberglass mast from The Mast Company and a trailer hitch mount.

    https://www.tmastco.com/main/page_products_telescopic_poles.html

Their mast has an 8mm diameter top section, the popular Jaclkite is 5mm.
For all-bands, where there is room, we use a 40m-10m EFHW hung in the middle like an Inverted-V.
At other places, where a smaller footprint is needed, it's a 32 ft single-band 20m EFHW (same 49:1 xfmr) up the mast and pulled out a short way from the car. For a few hours on the air from Colorado the 20m antenna is faster setup and plenty of action on the air :)

Because I have zero tolerance for cold weather. Below 73F is too cold for me. But, come spring, it'll be a ton of fun and I won't be sitting out in the cold grumbling the whole time.

I'm getting very close to completing another project that is partly a bit of my excuse for doing POTA: I just converted an 07 Honda Element into a micro camper. I can go anywhere, camp anywhere. I just gotta figure out how I'm going to set up power...

So maybe some of the parks down in LA or FL could be doable.

    Pics? Description?

Did you use the AWD version?

I do all my camping in a hammock these days (even in winter), but the Element sounds neat. I've toyed with the idea of getting a surplus mail truck (one of the old boxy RWD ones) and doing something like you mention with your Element.
