Having FUN, Joining Area51 Radio Group for their 1st POTA activation.

In this video I bring you along as I meet up with a local group of radio amateurs that are doing their first Parks on the Air activation! It was a fun time and refreshing to see such capable radio operators with many means to provide a service of communication if needed, still remembering to have fun with their equipment as well.

Area51 Radio Group is described as, Amateur (Ham) Radio operators living in the Southeastern United States, having come together (hereinafter known as WA5RGM). The purposes of WA5RGM will be, but not limited to: the exchange of information relating to ham radio and contesting; promoting and advancing public knowledge of ham radio; engaging in and promoting DX activity; and generally fostering a mutual interest and comradeship among the ham radio community.

Nice POTA activation. You have to pay a fee to enter a state park in Mississippi? Pennsylvania has taxes and fees on everything and anything but a fee to enter our state parks is one they haven't gotten to yet.

 

Yeah our state parks are always a hot source of funding problems with the legislature. It’s goofy.

The fee for this particular park is just $2 for a day pass, not bad.

 

Great video Brett, you really are a Jack of all Trades.
It certainly looked like the weather was nice to them as well.

I'd like to posit the idea of BIOTA. Big Industry On The Air.
Big factories, tall buildings & high chimneys for the antenna.
