I saw Gordo at Dayton and called out, Gordo its all your fault, Surprised face, I passed my eXtra because of your cd, Thanks Gordo. Always a good teacher.

 

Love the podcast! He's the reason I have my license. His books (and tapes/CDs) are awesome!

Met him at a fest in California years ago. Gave a good presentation. 73 OM

 

I sent Gordo an email not to long ago, telling him that he was the only "Elmer" I ever had, even though we never met. His tapes got me my Tech+ back in the day. He was gracious enough to thank me and send me a nice certificate. Really a class act and a gentleman.

 

Same for me, 1989 and Gordos Tapes/books got me there

 

Very good ambassador. Our hobby is unrecognized, generally by most Americans- BUT - Gordon West's efforts have made Ham Radio more accessible and understandable and have led thousands to acquire licenses. That's the good news. The BAD news is our efforts through ARRL LOBBYING to thwart HOA restrictions did not have more muscle. Perhaps part of that was the video that demonstrated why a tower was beneficial? Those idiots should have focused on why an invisible wire is beneficial. DUH. No more money to ARRL from me.

 

Thanks Craig for bringing this legend to life. And thanks too Mr. West for all you have done for Ham radio.

 

I took his code class back in 2000 and they were on cassette tapes. I found him to be a good instructor and that kept my interest in learning Morse Code.
I still send CW today thanks to Gordo!

 

Gordo is a class act!! Highly respected...

 

Gordo is probably responsible for getting more hams their licenses than any other person on the planet.
