Joe Reisert, W1JR, continues to pay forward, the kindness of his early ham radio mentors, with his contributions to our amazing hobby. Amateur Radio paved the way to a successful career and amazing encounters, Worldwide, with people and technology.
W1JR is an excellent example of ham radio at its finest. Even if he HAS worked Japan on 6m;-)! Nice piece Joe. Stay safe. 73 Chip W1YW
That was a most enjoyable interview. It is even better when you know the person being interviewed and you know that he does live his hobby and it radiates to everyone he meets. The first time I meet Joe was around 1974 and we were both at Fairchild Semiconductors. I was the field application engineer in New England and Joe had arrived in Boston from California on the "red eye' overnight flight and was ready to make presentations to customers with full energy. A delightful person to know and with a never ending curiosity and best of all: the ability to share it! Great job Joe! Bob W1FDR
Wonderful interview! Thanks for the mentoring, Joe. And thanks for being my first 432 moonbounce contact 73, Bryan W4WMT
Joe is one of the finest persons I have been privileged to meet. He epitomizes the true spirit of Amateur Radio!
Thank you Joe!! I built a 4x4 array of W1Jrs. managed to earn WAS on 144 mhz. Enjoyed more than 260 initial contacts while I was working EME-144mhz. My EME Elmer was Tim--KL7WE. Tim was a W1JR fan bi time. Best wishes to you for the new year. Mike KL7X
I met Joe quite a few times while I was working at HRO in NH during the late 80's and up through the mid 90's. I always found him to be a listener, a very kind soul, not a gram of pretentiousness and a real ham's ham. I wish I had had the time to pick his brain more than I did.
Great interview with a great guy! Joe, thank you again for your article in April 2019 QST about your 20 meter 3/8wave vertical. It has been a lifesaver to me in this HOA retirement area to which I was recently banished. I disguised your vertical as a flagpole and have been working the world with it!! 73, John W4GD
