Yeah, except these new hams will on be on ft8 while they watch YouTube. I had to beg for every CW contact I got on 10 meters this weekend. All these new techs don't care about their 10m voice privileges?!?! I would have been happy with some ssb even. I love 10 meters. 40 years old here and been ham since 2001. I can't wait for a repeat of even that peak.

Just in 2013 / 2014 I worked 44 states and some 33 DX on my "semi-homebrew 10m SSB transceiver" made from an EF Johnson 350 CB from 1965, modified with a VFO (that I moved to the "modern" SSB band segment)....

    3 1/2 watts output.

Not too shabby - and the last cycle wasn't "great" by any stretch.... hoping to finish all 50 states with it this coming cycle...

    I'd prefer what I saw in 1979.

Sunspots are very dangerous and if we get hit by a strong CME kiss your radio good bye... it could put as back several 100 years in technology and wipe out the internet... and much more!

@VE7DXW You're the earthquake propagation guy, right? Are you branching out now? Earthquake predictions getting boring?

The mind boggles, it really does, and no, I did not read whatever screed you're pushing now...

How about Natural terrestrial nuclear fission? Google Oklo nuclear reactor. The French had been finding that the U235/U238 ratio in samples of uranium from Gabon, Africa were off just slightly, but constantly. Then they did some deeper investigation. It's a very interesting story, although it's two billion years old, give or take a long weekend.

Sounds like you were on the wrong band and wrong mode. Everyone else was playing SSB with the Sweepstake CONtest. Spin the knob out of 10m you might be suprised.

True. In a way. Chemical energy, not necessarily with ancient origins in sunlight, is important (e.g. vent and deep rock situations).

I'm hoping for a Cycle 25 that equals Cycle 19, when I was first licensed. I didn't care for the last five years of 24!
