" join this challenging Worked All States Net " Seems to me that the purpose of these set up call nets is to make " WAS " LESS of a challenge. Like the DX 'nets' where they have the DX waiting and then tell them who will be calling them next !
Sorry you feel that way, but there is no judgement whatsoever on call sign sizes. The net was formed originally by the ARRL to promote use of the new Extra Class section of the 75M band. They figured to create a more meaningful challenge, you needed to work Extra Class formatted calls to get the ARRL Special 75M SSB Award. If you check out the website, GERATOL.NET you will notice there are many, many endorsements for all call sign formats. We WELCOME them ALL. In fact, we look for them.....have fun sending out all those QSL cards on Century Club net....I used to be NCS for the 80M CC Net
So AM dont count? Id love to fire up one of the old tube boatanchors and the 8877 linear (modified DTR-1000) and let rip
It sounds like you are not at all familiar with this WAS net versus the others. Call signs have to be copied both ways without assistance. No on-line logger tools, you have to pay attention to the net. I've done them all but the Geratol net has always been my favorite since I started down that path. I didn't quite make it to my goal this year to endorse 400 Geratol numbers for my director's award, but I will back at it next fall. John, KT8D
