Is Orbitrack a subscription app?

 

Working a plan to get my eggbeater back up this weekend and give it a go. I run hamclock using the Pi with a 10" monitor off to one side so I can track ISS 24/7. Goods link for that is KM4ACK


Just hook up a gps dongle and install it and your good to go. I tend to use my monitors for other things so that little stand alone has been running months continuously.

It was either free or a one time fee. I have had it quite a while and don't remember. I was able to hear a couple of stations during the pass about 45 minutes ago but was unable to make a contact. So at least I know the track is good.

OK dumb question. ISS is pretty spacious and at UHF and above a duplexer is a pretty small unit, or can be. Thus why not put up a single band repeater unit some time? I assumed that cross band on sats was a necessity due to the impracticality of putting proper isolation of TX and RX in a small package. But this seems to be one instance that is not so critical?

 

What is the best antenna to use for this contact?

 

I was all setup to make a contact last night ..80 degree pass almost perfect but the repeater appeared to be off line?

Same here. I was looking right at it, bright in the sky, and no response. Doppler shifting receive didn't help. Same result on the second pass. Maintenance? KG8ZQ, Jerry
