If someone can train one of those birds to fly with a triband beam in its talons up a couple of hundred feet and plonk it on a rotator, they'll write their own cheques. 73!
In Texas we have plenty of Red Tail Hawks, however, this fellow is much larger than a Red Tail. Fortunately for me, the Grackles didn't like him hanging around and managed to chase him off. He seemed to be most interested in my puppy dogs.
Ospreys hang out on one of my towers in mid-coast Maine (pictured to the left), but so far they only leave fish scales behind. No nest yet, thankfully.
many birds of pray learn to come down hard on the attack dive striking the prey with like 100LB or more , could knock you off the tower...
We had a quaker parrot for years that was hatched out on a cell tower in Austin, Texas. My son's tower climbing friend was instructed to tear the nest down, and brought a very young hatchling to us. It seems the parrots nest in large communal nests made of twigs and branches, causing too much wind-load on the tower. There is a large cell tower about 12 miles north of my QTH where I've counted over a hundred black vultures roosting. The stench is horrendous and every inch is covered in droppings. Sure would hate to have to climb that one!
