Fellow Hams who like Special Event Stations: Be on the alert for the call W2W this weekend in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Music Festival! There will be two operators during the weekend trying to hit the common bands (20, 40, 75) and maybe some 12 / 17 meter action if the propagation cooperates. One of the stations will be operating from just down road from the actual concert site in Bethel, NY. A lot of things happened in 1969; The NY Mets won the World Series, the first human stepped on the Moon and the biggest musical event ever took place in a small town called Bethel in the mountains of New York State. Join us in celebrating this historic event on August 17th and 18th. Weather permitting, one station may even operate from the actual site itself - Yasgur's Farm, if the crowds don't prohibit entry. Get us in your log folks, this is a one-time happening!!!
My partner in this SES may do a little CW Jeff but we're expecting folks calling in to want to talk about it, share stories, ask questions, which is easier in phone mode.
Hi Jim, great! I'll keep an ear open for ya. I agree that guys may want to chat a bit. I think we'll be too close but there may be good copy to Bethel. Have fun!
I'm in Plattekill (Ulster County NY). I remember Woodstock '69 in Bethel and Woodstock '94 in Saugerties. I will listen for your special event station and hope to work you on groundwave.
Woodstock 50 has been plagued with bad luck as its organizers could neither find a place of venue nor financial backers for the event. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodstock_50
Peace love dove! What killed Woodstock was Limp Bizkit unleashing the lower levels of hell at Woodstock '99.....
