    Hahah!

Some people don't know....signs are target practice fodder in many places in the South and West.

My favorite example of that is a TARGET sign in E-town KY: bullseye shot someone made at it.

What were they THINKING at corporate??

WOW!!! The POINT folks is to promote amateur radio, be it a hobby or an avenue to public service. If you can't get behind that you probably shouldn't be involved at all.
    Have a nice day.

I think it will be ignored by most drivers thinking its a radio station ad.

Cliff, thank you. And for the whiners, Cliff has had this billboard (now rev 2 ?) ~40 miles west of Knoxville, TN for many DECADES. Us locals love it, and we love what he does for the area.

WOW! Some of you need to lighten up. How could a billboard like this incite so many bad feelings and complaints? Some people have lost the ability to be happy. Let's not turn QRZ into something like facebook where complaints abound. I suggest if you want to spew your venom, do it there.

If this motivates anyone to become a HAM , I would be surprised, shocked , blown away.
Instead of making it look enjoyable, ARRL continues to make it look BORING !!
SKILL, SERVICE ,DISCOVERY .... Give me a BREAK
    The ARRL is Antiquated

I think this link shows the billboard location as seen on Google Maps. The image was obviously taken before the new ARRL message was applied, but it looks like an excellent sign QTH. No other such attention grabbers for miles.

Don't neglect the power of subliminal perception planting an idea versus perfect comprehension of it at speed. The large print "RADIO COMMUNICATIONS", the iconic ARRL diamond symbol, the "what-is-ham-radio" catch phrase URL.

Lots of savvy but bored saddled to 11m only Good Buddies thinkin' "hmmmm" ...

    THANKS CLIFF @KD4GT ! :)

Great idea I would like to see more of this being done.
I would even rather get something like this in the mail than all the political flyers.

If that's it, it's a good location. People coming up on it will have a straight view and will have plenty of time to read it.

I applaud the initiative. But as a communication specialist I see a couple of areas of concern. One, the design is NOT condusive to conveying a relevant simple message to drivers passing it while driving 75 mph on an interstate. Two, the BIG WORDS register quickly. the little words will be blurs and lost. And they only place the word, thought, idea that this is related to AMATEUR radio is the word HAM. Three, I understand the guy who funded this lives in Tennessee. But Tennessee is not a strategic area by any stretch of the imagination. I can only think his reason is to reach local CBers. Four, if the ARRL decides to do this elsewhere I hope they review the effectiveness. Done properly it can be effectice. Otherwise it is not cost effective. 73. KX1G

There's nothing wrong with the sign. If you think there is explain the harm that has been done.

The "dead horse" service/hobby issue, like Freddy Krueger, is back again. The amateur service has been my hobby for close to 60 years.

Billboards are a scenic blight and should be removed (except in far west Texas where they actually improve the landscape).
