I really hope folks who get great reception of WWV and WWVH are recording the signals for posterity and sharing them. I'd love to pull up an hour or two of the audio on YouTube and just let it run... Unfortunately my SW receiving ability is poor here in Oregon, otherwise I'd do this.

Yep. MF-HF propagation varies, which is why WWV(H) uses several frequencies. GPS in the low GHz range (link) is mostly not affected by propagation vagaries.

Yeah, time to start waxing nostalgic. Maybe I'll turn on my FRG-7 and keep it tuned to WWVH until the final tick, or something commemorative like that.

Let’s face it WWV/WWVH probably looks like low hanging fruit to budget cutters.

Hard to justify them in today’s world of cheap quartz watches/gps/cell phones/tablets etc. Sad to see them go though. I used to routinely set my shack clock to WWV.

Most newer systems use GPS ground stations and NTP time servers. But, I still feel there is a need for WWV. Any chance of getting private funding, say GoFundMe?

It would seem like a good idea for a moderator to edit the very misleading title for this thread.

And this is progress? Methinks not.
We're in the 3 steps backward now.
Can't wait for the 1 step forward; wait, where does that leave us?
Already signed the petition. Can't believe there aren't thousands of signatures per hour.
