I don't know if anything better could ever have a chance. Satellite dishes were easier to accept because they have a pretty much standard size, the CAI knew what they were getting. With HF antennas... the sky is the limit, and the CAI know that.

"Eventually you get your "effective outdoor antenna". Your neigbhbors will complain about "interference" and will hate you for ruining their "property values" and unless your HOA has a clause prohibiting it, your neighbors will take you to court forabatement of a nuisance."

Then your "Neighbours" will LOSE in Court. A Precedent will be set, and Future Busybody Neighbours who try the same thing will be advised not to.

"Anyone who thinks HOAs are magically going to be more generous with the rules is naive."

    Yes.

And this is EXACTLY why we need this Bill to Pass into Law.

Here's a test for you - Of the two of us, which would know what I did?

It would be naive to think that the HOA's are going to do anything until they are told that they MUST. This is CLEARLY the case...It's how we got to this point.

ARPA only applies to Community Associations, not to individuals.

And Individuals can sue you for anything they can find a lawyer for, who'll take their money.

I think it would be naive to think that HOAs are going to sit on their hands and do nothing, and then completely cave in to some ham's arbitary demands. If CAI-ARPA passes into law then regulations, you can bet that the Community Association Institute will have guides and recommendations available to HOAs on how to acheive the bare minimum compliance.

And how often do we see these civil lawsuits occurring with OTARD antenna's in HOA neighborhoods?

CAI's version of ARPA is not OTARD. Not even close. CAI "fixed" ARPA to avoid the problems they have had with OTARD.

You're the one who wants to talk "Red Herring"? Well OTARD is a perfect example of a Red Herring where CAIARPA is concerned.

Few regular people object to television reception antennas. The same people think ham antennas are evil and the "radiation" harmful.

Yes... and then (claiming interference) they will lose on the Countersuit, Served Cold!

This will shut a lot of Busybody Neighbour mauf up...

We all took the test on Scout's Honour, and prefer Honesty as the Right Route. So you DID take the test, right?

CAI maintains control of aesthetic and safety considerations and this is nothing new regardless if it's OTARD or ARPA antenna's in an HOA.

There are many similarities including the idea you are not able to install any antennas in places that are not under the exclusive use of the homeowner.
