Someone upgraded their boat anchor although some wouldn't call it an update.

 

What vintage is considered to qualify as a Boatanchor?

 

Pretty much any old radio with tubes, transformers, and variable caps makes it a boat anchor. This includes the TS-520 Hybrids, Swans, Heathkits, and any other AM or SSB vintage equipment.

3870. It's in the title of the video, first post. Took me a while to see it too!

 

Look at around 13:30 on the video, where a guy comes in with an HT-37. That's a Hallicrafters phasing type transmitter. This one has no opposite sideband suppression.
Note also that the Flexradio is receiving lower ssb with plenty of bandwidth, giving those old boatanchors all the room they need in his passband.
Good stuff.
