New Auction Site For Ham Radio

I am working on a new auction site for ham radio at http://www.hambids.com

Feel free to check it out and perhaps check for bugs while you are there.

The offical opening date for the site is December 12th 2016 but for the purpose testing you may list items for sale at any time, it's free to list items.

You can edit a listing by selecting the item, and then clicking on the update link. It's on the top left section of the page.

High Bidder: You may retract your bid for a good reason.

The official opening day for the hambids.com auction site is the 12th of December.

Starting today the 2nd of December and lasting up to the 12th of December New Members will receive a $10.00 credit which does not expire and can be used at any time. If you have already joined the site you will also receive a new Member $10.00 credit at this time.

Fees

The maximum commission fee is only 3% of the sale price, it goes down from there.

$0.00 to $150.99 = 3.0%
$151.00 to $250.99 = 1.80%
$251.00 to $500.99 = 1.5%
$501.00 to $999999.99 = 1.3%

For example, if you sell a 2 meter mobile radio for $100.00 the total fee would be only $3.00, there are no other fees for using the action site to sell this item.

If you sell an item for $200.00, the total fee is just $3.60 (1.8%)

Tom, it may run a rotating banner ad at the top of the page (and I'm not sure about that yet) but other than that it will not run ads of any kind, only items posted by it's members.

In the help section (top right of home page), Seller Fee's [sic] - Fees is misspelled.
I suggest you fine-tooth your site for misspellings, incorrect punctuation, grammar errors, etc. That is if you want to appear professional.

I wish you the best of success! And good on ya for another ham stuff market venue.

I hope you have something better in regards to spam, fakes, and thiefs. If you do you could have the "go to site" and do very well, if not good luck.

 

The site requires all members to use their callsigns, so we can use it to identify them and recommends PayPal for payments because it provides protection for the seller and the buyer but it is not required in order to buy or sell.

As far as emails go and spam, your email address is private.

It's not idiot proof, it's like any other site including this one.

 

Here is the user agreement. (Yes I know there are some typo's)

User Agreement between you and hambids.com, Ham Radio Auction

The following is the user agreement as presented by hambids.com, Ham Radio Auction. You must agree to these terms before you will be able to sell items, or bid on them. If you do not accept these terms, please, do not use our services.

Article 1.Your User Name must be your Ham Radio Callsign. Any User Name you use that does not contain your Ham Radio Callsign will be deleted.

Article 2. Eligibility of membership - This auction site is only available to people who are legally able to form binding contracts with you and the seller/buyer of an auction item. People who are of under age of 18 are not eligible for membership due to security precautions that can result as of those members. If you do not meet these requirements, you are not eligible to use these auction services.

Article 3. hambids.com, Ham Radio Auction is only providing auction services - We only provide services to people interested in selling and buying merchandise via internet auction. We do not have control over the items that are posted in the auction site, and cannot guarantee the authenticity and quality of a said product. We are not responsible for the actions the sellers takes, before, during, and after the auction, typographical errors, mis-prints, loss of merchandise/money, damage or failure of equipment, due to your visit to this auction site. Use of this site is at your own risk, and content is presented 'As-Is'.

Article 4. Bidding and Selling - As a user, you may bid and/or sell merchandise over hambids.com, Ham Radio Auction. As a bidder, you know that placing a bid is a binding contract with you and the seller, and the bid cannot be retracted unless due to fault by the seller of typographical error, or other error, due to human error on the seller's part. Once you place a bid, and if you win, you will be obligated to buy the product at the said price you indicated as your bid. Once a bid has been placed for your item, you are being placed in a binding contract with the potential buyer of the product, if that bid shall be the highest bid. Once the auction is over, if over reserve price, you are obligated to sell to the potential buyer which is the highest bidder in your auction. If, reserve price was not met, you are not obligated in any way to sell this item at all. As a seller, you are not in any way to bid on your own items. If reported, your auction will be deleted.

Article 5. Selling Items - As a user, you are welcome to put items up for sale in the hambids.com, Ham Radio Auction. We do have restrictions on what items you may sell, and what you may not sell. You may not sell illegal merchandise, including pirated software and music, firearms, adult videos, or anything that is affiliated with pornography, etc. Items that are up to bids are subject to review by the staff of hambids.com, Ham Radio Auction, and my be removed without prior notice, if in violation with the User Agreement.

Article 6. Privacy - We gather your information so that other people will have it on hand when they win your auction, or you win their auction. Personal information is not sold, rented, without your permission. Personal information sent to a user regarding a product bought or sold on the auction is not to be used for any other purpose, except for communication with the auction item.

Article 7. Warranty - hambids.com, Ham Radio Auction provide this website in an 'as-is' condition, without a warranty or condition. hambids.com, Ham Radio Auction is not liable for any damages resulting in an auction, or your visit to the site.

Buying and Selling, please note that this site recommends PayPal for all financial transactions, because it provides protection for both the buyer and the seller.

By Pressing I Accept, You Agree to these terms listed above. And that the Callsign you use for registration on this site is your own. And that you agree to have your internet IP address recorded by this site.

 

So Besides call sign, how can you verify the identity of the seller/buyer?
