Looks nice, but the specs state 16 memory channels and 2 zones which isn't much for a DMR radio. I thought the 2 Zones was a typo but after watching the clip, apparently not.
How many channels can one person talk on at one time ?? Seems like enough for me ! But how much is 120 Euros vs. Green Backs ??
Sounds like some DMR dummies are asking questions. As in, they have no clue about DMR. It is not uncommon for ham DMR repeaters to have a dozen or more talk groups setup. If you want to program a single radio channel for each talk group in that repeater, which is the best way to do it else you will be hearing on one talk group and responding on another, and thus pissing off lots of people around the world! So if this radio only has 16 digital channels, then that would really only adequately cover one DMR repeater. Don't forget you might want to program in the 4 simplex channels too. If you plan to only talk over one repeater, then 16 channels might be all you need. But if you want to talk over multiple repeaters you would be SOL. Yes, you can just program in 2 channels for each DMR repeater, one each for slot one and slot two, but by the time you fish through a zillion menus written in Chinenglish to set which talk group you want to talk on, the people you wanted to talk to are long gone. Bottom line is that 16 digital channels is way too few.
W2ZDP .... 120 euro is not for this radio ( in pre-order in germany at 299 euro !!!! ) , 120 euro is for the best radio the Retevis RT3 on amazon or ebay market ! 73 de IW2BSF
"Channels" are for different talkgroups even thought you may be using only one repeater frequency in your location. Then multiply that by different cities.... you need lots of channels. ...DOUG KD4MOJ
I was also surprised about the lack of channels, but unfortunately all sources confirm it. The Wouxun is announced to cost 189€ here in Germany. They definitely won't be successful with this radio! http://www.funktechnik-bielefeld.de...l/analog-handfunkgeraet-uhf-70cm-band-version By the way, W5JCK, with all respect I don't see the need to program each repeater with all talkgroups, that's simply senseless. Most of the DMR radios have great opportunities to program each repeater only one time (means with slot 1 and 2) and choosing the talkgroups with either the keypad or via contacts. Even the reflectors can be activated that way easily! If you program your codeplug the way you mentioned it you'll end up in a not manageable radio, in my opinion. When you travel from time to time you don't want to search in dozens of zones for the right repeater beside the fact, that the radios still have channel amount limitations. We already have much more then 1000 repeaters in the World. Don't you agree that it easier to push a button on the keypad rather than turning the channel selector knob endless times and additionally changing zone to get to the right repeater just because you need to talk on a different talkgroup? regards Andreas
You don't even need to leave Google. Google has a currency translator built in. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=120+eur+in+usd It works for lots of unit conversions.
