So, can we use this in the US? Is it legal here? Frequencies?
    Sounds fun..

    It's completely dependent on bandwidth.

I've dug some and can't find the bandwidth of this thing.:confused::confused:

Yes! According to the comments on his site:

    This thing has an S/N of -35dB @ 1baud, I think that's a new record!

    WSPR is around –28-30dB!

Any evidence of this, even anecdotal? EME ops will be all over it if true...

I have pretty good evidence: For starters, if you use the supplied WAV file on the website (labeled as a test sample of -35 dB S/N), you get -35dB S/N. This noise has fairly high peaks and some good troughs.

I've been playing with Audacity and playing recording of the mode and noise at the same time, and I've gotten at least -31dB with fairly reliable copy. I used the white noise generator in Audacity, and read the "Metric" scale in ROS. Audacity's "white noise" is a worse-case scenario - absolutely NO nulls or peaks. I would say -31dB in this scenario is pretty darn good, considering real-life noise will wax and wain over time.

-31dB is beyond WSPR mode, and ROS is real-time, whereas WSPR requires ~2 minutes to decode before you can read it.

My Norton Utility stopped ROS dead in its tracks. Msg received from Norton was ROS is a security risk. Installation was terminated and Norton deleted the program.

norton would label me a Virus if it could..

NOD32 is the best thing going for such, and won't raise as many false flags.

Rarely (this may be the first time) Norton has ever flagged a download. So, I will go with Norton for now. I will check out this NOD32 (Never heard of it).

Gotchya, it may or may not be a false positive. I think developers many times have to contact Norton to get it squared away. Do a google search for norton and false positives.
