WIVB, a local CBS affiliate in Buffalo NY produced and ran a nice segment on morse code, amateur radio, and emergency communications. It also featured a few members of a local contest club. http://wivb.com/2016/10/27/amateur-radio-provides-critical-communications-when-all-else-fails/ http://wivb.com/2016/10/27/amateur-radio-provides-critical-communications-when-all-else-fails/
Great article. I always wonder though....what percentage of hams have a setup that can be operated during a power outage? I have to think that the majority of hams are simply plugged in to the wall outlet and don't have batteries and generator in standby.
Well not in Cali when your mobile, from what I'm reading today. Nice post all in all, very good......
Great way to start a Saturday. I think I may go portable today. Local lake maybe. Thanks for posting Steven. gl
My old home town! They did a good job but I wish they wouldn't paint all of Amateur Radio as old school. It's as current as any other technology and continues to evolve.
Nice, but another missed opportunity.... The hams interviewed should always add the statement: "But sadly, most communities restrict us from putting up antennas."
