It was seeing what ham radio guys did during Katrina and in my former neck of the woods during Rita that made me want to become a ham and get involved in EmComm. I evacuated to Fort Worth for what I thought was going to be a three-day weekend with the inlaws. I got back to Beaumont almost a month later. The church my wife and I got married in two months before Rita was destroyed clean down to the foundation. I called it God's Warning Shot! My wife hates it when I tell that story! You're the Man, Don!
Thanks Christian for doing this, and a special thanks to Don for his words. Not being directly impacted by things like Katrina, we have no idea how it was. Don, you helped, at least myself, to have a better idea of what it was like.
Thanks for the interview with Don Wilbanks regarding Hurricane Katrina. It's hard for me to realize it has been 10 years since Katrina, as time seems to move rather fast these days. But, I certainly hope those affected by the hurricane have regained their footing in life and very much appreciate the fact that Don shared some personal stories of how the event changed his and his family's life. I'm sure many more can relate a similar story from this devastating storm. This was an intriguing story and you are to be commended for making it available on 100W and a Wire! Thanks, Christian!
Really enjoyed hearing Don talking about what happened and sharing his insights. I appreciate you putting out this special edition.
