    Thomas Dudley Minyard

    October 14, 1955 - May 10, 2015

    Thomas Dudley Minyard, 59, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 of injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident in Columbus, MS.

    Visitation will be Friday, May 15, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2pm at First Baptist Church, Greenwood, MS with Rev. Joe Pate officiating. Mr. Minyard will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will be in Oddfellows Cemetery, Greenwood, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

    A native of Greenwood, Mr. Minyard was born Oct. 14, 1955 to the late Dudley Stone Minyard and Edith Christine Shelton Minyard. He attended Greenwood High School, and in 1975 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 10 years. During his enlistment in the Navy he served aboard the USS Ingersoll, the USS Virginia, the USS Detroit, and the USS John Young. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked as a radio and television engineer and was employed by WABG, WXVT, Lucent Technologies, Thompson Aviation, Cellular One in Mississippi, and American Forces Network Europe in Sigonella, Sicily. For the past few years he has been self-employed as a beekeeper in Lowndes County at Flying Circus Apiary. He was an avid motorcycle and gun enthusiast and was a member of the Lowndes County Amateur Radio Club and American Legion Post No. 69. Mr. Minyard was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Jill Cory Minyard, his wife of 26 years, who passed away after a long illness in February 2015; several brothers; and one sister.

    He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Minyard of Orlando, Fla., and Melanie (Scott) Wilson of DeLand, FL.; his first wife, Grace McLellan Minyard of Orlando, FL; six brothers, Billy Minyard of Spokane, WA, Mike Hannah and Larry Hannah, both of Cleveland, TX, Ricky Hannah of Gatesville, TX, David Hannah of TX and Jeffrey Hannah of Tomball, TX; one sister, Mary Frances Hannah of Chidester, AR; and three grandchildren, Caroline Wilson, Annabelle Wilson and Ethan Wilson, all of DeLand, FL.

    Pallbearers will be Scott Wilson, Larry Hannah, Larry McLellan, Robbie McLellan, Justin Wolfe Smith and Phillip Wolfe Smith.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be made to Golden Ark Animal Shelter, 1909 Leflore Avenue, Greenwood, MS and Peripartum Cardiomyopathy Association, 607 Memorial Parkway SW, Rochester, MN 55902.
