    Joseph M. Plesich Jr., 77, of Steubenville, died Saturday November 1, 2014, at Trinity West ER.
    He was born June 4, 1937, in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Joseph M. Sr. and Margaret Pishok Plesich.
    Joseph is also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas.
    Joseph was retired from Toronto City Schools, where he was a guidance counselor. Joseph was previously a guidance counselor at Catholic Central High School and Jefferson Community College.
    Joseph was a member of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church, the Steubenville-Weirton Amateur Radio Club, where he held the office of Secretary, and was an avid Amateur Radio operator with a call sign of W8DYF.
    Surviving are his wife, Laurel Fitzsimmons Plesich whom he married April 16, 1966; two sons, Brian (Beatrice) of AZ, and Andrew (Elisha) of Steubenville; four daughters, Brenna Plesich of Reston, VA, Mary Jo Plesich of San Diego, Meghan Santas of Dallas, and Bridget of Tampa, FL; two brothers, Gregory of Akron and Stephen (Jeanette) of Warren, OH.
    Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville.
    A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Bradley Greer, celebrant. There will be a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
    Sadly, the local repeaters as well as the HF bands will be a little quieter without W8DYF. . . .
