Western Samoa 5W prefix should be active Nov 18 - Nov 22
WB2IQU plans to go to Samoa, and has the paperwork being processed,
to be able to be active on the Island while he is there.
Here is part of the email I got from Steve, WB2IQU, {5W2IQU}
RE: DX-pedition “ Talofa ” Starting Nov 18th for 6 days and nights!
Operator is Steve Bozak WB2IQU mostly on 20m.
Hey fellow operators, I would love to work as many of you as I can from
the Navigator Islands!
I will be leaving ALB and head to the Independent island nation of Samoa, in the South Pacific.
This DX pedition is called “Talofa” which means “hello” in Samoan Language.
There are no other hams on the island; my call sign will likely be 5W2IQU.
This island was recently devastated from an earthquake and tsunami, destroying a lot of property and life. And this island is not a tourist attraction!
This will be my 3rd trip here.
Thanks to Amateur Radio I hope to stay in touch with
friends. Let’s meet on the ham bands!
Steve Bozak WB2IQU 5W2IQU stay tuned.
This will be a low budget event, so if your lucky enough to work Steve,
please send an envelope, and money for the postage back to you.
I donated a new Jetstream 28 Switching Power Supply to Steve for his trip, as he only had an old heavy one, thats not practical for an airplane trip. He will be using an Icom 706, a small MFJ antenna tuner, and a Bozak 20m dipole.
I will try to keep this updated, if there is any more info.
Time is -11 UTC for Samoa.
