Default Pleasantly surprised!

Well, tonight I did my talk at the AARC meeting, the topic was my article, "SWR Meters Make You Stupid". It was very well received....folks seemed to be glad to learn something new! I guess there might be some hope for ham radio after all.

Highlight of the presentation was when I demonstrated my double reflection setup....how the forward power at one location in a transmission system can EXCEED the power capacity of the transmitter. Behold, the measurements were PRECISELY as predicted....forward minus reflected power equaled power dissipated in the load (measured with a precisiion oscilloscope)

Very cool. I wish every experiment went this well. I think I'm going to have someone video this for Youtube to go along with my Lecher Wire demo.

At ease.

Eric

Eric,

It's getting close to Christmas tree light antenna time!

Will you do a video and put it on YouTube for us? Every time I lit up the antenna for my students they were amazed. It needs some repair for this year but I expect to have it working soon.

Is the antenna something you came up with? If so, we really need to look at naming it after you.

Ericantenna? Nah. Nichols Visible Radiator? Maybe.

On second thought, no one would believe us. No way would people believe that the Christmas tree light antenna was actually invented in North Pole.

If you use the Lecher wires does the video have to be X rated?

If I'm lucky, I might get some residue.
