The Russell County (Va.) Amateur Radio Club, Inc. (RCARC, Inc.) will commemorate its 10th anniversary with an on-air event Saturday, November 7th in the east community room beside the town hall in Lebanon. The event will begin at noon and end at 6 pm. The public is invited to attend. Members of the club and guests will be on the amateur radio bands contacting stations from all over the U.S. and the world. A special callsign, W4R, will be used during the event. “We really hope that the public will come and join us for our 10th anniversary and see what ham radio is all about. It will be a lot of fun!!!” says Scott Boyd, Vice-President of the club. The club will operate in the general portion of the HF bands, primarily 40 meters.
The club has come a long way in its 10 year history. It started out with very little equipment and few members to a well equipped organization with a growing membership. The club has had a lot of help from local government, businesses and individuals to get where it is today. The RCARC, Inc. members would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of those that have made it so successful in its first 10 years in existence. RCARC, Inc. President Curt Justice says, “we couldn’t have come as far as we have without the assistance of a lot of people, which are too numerous to mention and we look forward to many more years to come helping the citizens of Russell County”. The club provides backup emergency communications during natural or man-made disasters, searches and more. For more information on the club and amateur radio contact the club at
