So after the squelch circuit in my ADI AR-247 finally ticked me off enough, I dropped the $229 for an Alinco DR-235 MkIII for the car and I'll be putting my old ADI rig in the house.
I'm on 220 daily so if any radio in my car is going to suck, it can't be my 220 rig. Some things I instantly noticed about the DR-235...
1. The receiver is awesome.
2. The squelch circuit is great for mobile use.
3. I like the look of the radio a lot more.
4. The display actually works right without having to go inside the radio and reseat it properly (ask anyone who's owned an ADI AR-1/2/447 about the displays on those radios...)
5. The audio sounds great.
Overall, well worth the money spent. I own the Alinco DJ-296 HT (the DR-235's little brother I suppose) and have had no problems with it either. I have absolutely loved every Alinco product I've ever owned and I'm sure the 235 will be no exception. If you want to get on 220, this is your radio.
Anyone else have one of these?
