Aside from being very hard to find, does anyone have any comments regarding this amp and it's performance? Interested in it's ability to work with antennas without perfect swr.
Thanks

Thumbs up

I have the model with the switching power supply interfaced to my Icom 751A and have no complaints.
It is not as fussy about SWR as my Tokyo High Power 1.5K amp.
Amp seems to work OK.
I don't own a tuner so I have to depend upon a good antenna match to begin with. got one of those MFJ antenna matching thingy's, MFJ 269 ( I think )
Haven't had a problem since.
I personally for the money think that the MFJ is a good bargin and I understand that after the first of the year they will be offering this amp with automatic band switching simular to what the Icom and Tokyo High Power already offer.

I bought the Tokyo High Power because I wanted the automatic band switching for my Icom Radio but didn't want to spend the money that is required for the Icom 2.5 Kw amp.

Have fun and hope Santa puts it in your stocking.

thanks and Happy Holidays to you also.
I run a TS 870 to a HYtower from Hygain. SWR's can sometimes be tricky with this vert. I have a built in tuner but I am a freak on properly tuning my antennas as I hate using a tuner.
GL and thanks

Gregg
I have been using an ALS 600 for about 3 months and love it. The SWR on all my antennas is not higher then 1.5 to 1 and the amp delivers 5-600 watts no trouble. The fan in the amp makes some noise but not bad. The amp I have I got used and it had some bad solder joints on the output cable. Once that was fixed it has been great. I hope the auto band switch mod is offered by Ameritron for the older amps. The lack of tuneup when switching bands is great.
Hope this helps

Oh well. I did it and bought a unit from AES and had it in a day.
Great little amp! Puts out 500+ watts without a problem.
I purchased the ALS 600S.
Strange thing thoughj, the design has changed where I have both band switch and ALC knobs on the bottom of the control head and there are two remote female rj45 plugs marked A & B on the top right side of the panel.
Other than that, it is great to have a little extra power when needed and my Hy-tower swr does not cause any problems.
Thanks everyone
p.s. I also purchased the ARS 704 interface to connect my 870 to the amp.
AES has great customer service!

Default Auto bandswitching

You have one of the new ALS-600 amps with auto bandswitching capabilities. I have one too. If you buy an Ameritron ARI-500 interface and connect it to your rig, the amp will follow the radio automatically when you switch bands. I had to buy the interface from the factory -- couldn't find any dealers with them in stock. But the auto bandswitching feature is great.

I used one for a while. It worked fine and I had no problems. My antennas are all resonant and gave the amp no SWR issues. I would recommend it. Bryce K7UA
