Coaxial RF Choke

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can add any comments? #I am looking at making a coaxial RF choke. #I am thinking of using a section of PVC pipe about a foot long. I would like to know what diameter the PVC should be and roughly how many turns of coax is required? #I have heard about 14, is this correct? Coax to be used will be the RG-213 type.

Any comments would be most welcomed.

That should work. The real test is how well it actually chokes off line current. You can build a simple R.F. current probe and actually check it out. If you have minimal current...it's doing it's job...end of story!

I just took about the last 6 feet of my coax and rolled it up (coiled it) right at the pl-259 connection, where I hook it up to my antennas. I keep it coiled with a plastic zip-tie.

Works for me. Doesn't cost one red cent.

Thanks for your comments. All points well noted. I will be installing my HF wire antenna over the holiday break so I will use this info and hope for the best!
