I am considering purchasing this rig. A friend has the TM-700 and I like it. I am wondering if anyone has the TM-710 and can give me any input. Also any info on the add-on AV Map G5 display would be appreciated.

Craig,
I'm getting a D710A for Christmas. Picked it up a week and a half ago at the local "candy store" following our VE session. Not nearly enough time to check out all the bells & whistles, but I've been happy with what I've seen of it so far. When the XYL saw it in my carry case, I told her I needed to do a QC inspection to make sure it worked (and that the testing would take until about Dec 25th.)

Reviews on anothEr HAM radio website are positve as well. There is a Yahoo group TM-D710_TM-V71 dedicated to the V71 and D710A. You can probably learn more there.

I've had one for about 6 week . I like it very much..I've had no problems programing it with the software, except the one's that come from lack of brain matter (mine).. I had to find a cable that would work usb to serial port finally found one that would on my laptop. It was a drag taking it out of the car to reprogram in the house.. now I take my laptop to the car hook up the cable and reprogram it, in no time at all..The radio it's self is great for transmitte and receive.
