Default Logic 8 Help please...

I have been off the air for about 5 years. I just purchased the latest and greatest Logic software, however i have a few questions.

1. Does Logic have PSK functionality built in? Was just wondering if I could get MixW off the screen.

2. Does Logic allow you to control radio directly? I am running a Kenwood TS-450SAT?

3. I know there is a way for Logic to do a call sign look up off QRZ, but here us the question. Is that done at entry into the log, or an an update basis?

Please bear with me I am still figuring things out I am very rusty.

I can also be emailed directly at liprippa@yahoo.com

Thanks

Congratulations. LOGic 8 is a great program.

It does not have PSK decode/encode built in, but it will work very well with Digipan and MixW.

Can't answer the question about your Kenwood, but it controls my Yaesu FT-890 just fine. Within the limits of the Yaesu CAT system, of course. No program can control what the rig won't let you control.

I do callsign lookup as I log...it's neat how the program brings up the QRZ.com profile, complete with photos if the other op has put them on QRZ.

Here's a link to the email reflector for LOGic, complete with archives:

I have an old Kenwood 440 and while you *can* computer control it, it requires a special interface that was more trouble than it was worth. It is my backup rig, so I never pursued it. Maybe the 450 is similar??

You'll need another program like MixW to run PSK. Good luck at making them interface correctly. I never got it to work well enough to consider it a true interface. Changes in log data were not bi-directional and led to problems.

Open up a "callbook" form under the forms menu and use that to lookup calls. Note that you can set Logic to use various databases including local CDs, online lookups, etc. You can configure it to use QRZ as well as the paid QRZ lookup feature (you need a paid account on QRZ to access that database, QRZ XML).
