About 20 minutes worth of work.
Or get it from Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com). They have a 24/7 support number if you need help. They also give you a free 25 meg POP mailbox for your domain name if you purchase it from them.

Check my article at http://www.wb4aej.com/hamdomain . I last revised the instructions over two years ago. Unless they've changed their Web site, the procedure should still be good.

I would like to learn to do Joomla. I've not found anyone locally who knows it well enough to ask questions about it. It seems like it would be a steep up-front learning curve but very simple once one gets the basics.

Any suggestions?

PM or email me I am willing to answer any questions on Joomla! Free Advice on Domains, Hosting and related info also is available.
Having up to recently used it almost exclusively in my Website development business, I think I know most of the tricks and tips to get JoomlaSites moving.
Let's all work together and get rid of FrontPage and HTML based HamSites.

Come on guys we all like using latest RIGS, so why not update our sites.

Then again that HF rig that's going to be released tomorrow is expected to do CW, and do it WELL . I don't know enough about Joomla to have a fair opinion about, but I will look into it to what advantages it may have, and what limitations any free hosting may have.

How much are you paying for godaddy hosting? I am seeing prices at about $5/month. I had been using host298 for years at $20/year.

A business grade connection, not at home, and it's a dynamic IP address? Sound like a lot of duct tape engineering going on.

It's a nice offer but...

Apologies for the late reply.

Well, I started the way I sometimes tend to start with certain projects and subjects which is jump in with both feet and get my hands dirty.

That being said there are many, many tutorial sites out there that you can refer to in addition to the offer by VK4ARJ.

Typically I will Google "joomla tutorials" and just start reading up on what I find.

I am by no means an expert at Joomla by any stretch of the means and know that it is capable of FAR more than I currently have it doing. I pick up bits and pieces here and there as time (and the desire) allows.

I also normally load the "sample data" during initial setup which gives me premade reference articles and samples to examine and see how they were setup.

What I like the best about Joomla (like most CMS's) is that no matter where I am, as long as I have Internet access and can "hit" the page... I can modify it from the administrator's backend.

All you need once the system is setup is a computer, I-net access and a browser to implement most quick changes.

Also, as time progresses there are more and more modules and features that can be added to the system to expand what it can do.

One of these days I may actually become competent at it.

Yes and something very much like that is used by DYNDNS.COM for their dynamic web addresses for hams already.
