We can only hope that people will follow TX3A QSL instructions advertised on the website, and that postal rates do not increase too much in the coming months (and that exchanges rates will remain somewhat stable). We are happy to upload LoTW confirmations during the expedition and we certainly also send via the bureau, but if somebody wants paper QSL, we very much prefer the OQRS system or at least that people follow the instructions WE give them, not what others believe they should be.

You must be careful when you make statements about costs in countries you do not know that closely. Your tables are somewhat misleading when you for instance state that sending from Hungary to the US costs HUF 260. Yes it does. Sometimes, if all conditions are met. The same holds for exchange rates where you take mid forex rates as if they would be the actual rates used when exchanging 1 USD banknotes. Far from reality. Rates are normally much worse. And they change all the time.

Default Direct QSLing costs

Am I missing something here?

1) K4M (or any other OQRS DXpedition)
- A 5 bux contribution gets me a LoTW confirmation + a QSL - it saves me 1 dollar in postage + approx 1.50 for an IRC + approx .50 cents in stationery.
(my net cost total = 2 bux).

2) A 2009 direct card sent to a well known Pacific LF DXer (and a good QSLer)
- 1 dollar in postage + 3 dollars for 2 IRCs + approx .50 cents in stationery
(my net cost total = 4.50 bux) - and NO LoTW confirmation.

3) A direct card sent to any good manager will cost at least
- 1 dollar in postage + 1.50 bux for 1 IRC + approx .50 cents in stationery.
(my net cost total = 3 bux) - and no guaranteed LoTW confirmation.

And still people get to moan about 5 bux minimum contributions - just crazy!

3 usd for postage, IRC and stationary is more than twice less than 5 usd contribution + 1.5 USD for postage and stationary.
