Personally I would look into anything that is from ASUS.

They have a wide variety to suit most any need, and they are one of the best, if not the best, motherboards on the market.

Hope this is helpful.

p.s. Good choice on the AMD also.

Yup. I prefer ASUS boards. I have always thought the manuals are easier to follow as well.

I am curentley running a Asus M3N-HT but wonder if the Asus M4A79T for the new AMD 3 CPU would be a better board.

I just built one two months ago with this board.

Gigabyte GA-MA790X

Phenom II x4 940 processor, 8 Gigs of Ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9800 video card.

Yes, I run 64 bit operating systems.

I'm not taking a shot here but does Intel make motherboards for AMD processors?

Most of the new mother boards have a GPU on board but they are not on board video. They assist the Video board in processing images.

Take a look at the M4a79t Delux.
AM3 socket, 4 PCIe slots, DDR3. 790 front side bus, up to 16gig RAM.
I've seen them for $178
