Certainly, common sense and observation as often observed by reports in print, television, and radio (not that I believe everything that I see, hear, or read) but when it becomes evident that a persistent pattern of incompetence is present it can only lead to the conclusion that said incompentence is present.
Would you disagree that the U.S. Military is competent given the numerous reports of our own people killed by means of "friendly fire", numerous equipment malfucntions of ordinances such as tanks and other artillery used leading to their own demise? Or how about the stated reports of planes and helicopter crashes and failures?
Now that I've elucidate you on my background would you be kind enough to outline your education and experience leading to your expertise on U.S. Military capabilities and performance that contradicts the above?
Thank you for thoroughly proving my point (GI=GO).
I make no claim to expertise, and readily admit to bias resulting from personal observation and experience during 40 years of combined active duty and civil service with the USAF. Bottom line: "Been there & done that" trumps "didn't go, but read the Cliff's Notes".
Gettin' just too dadburned crowded up there. The upside is that soon there will be so much metal, it will be just one huge passive reflector around the equator.

If we can sideline the troll-response-to-troll writings for a moment, let me say that I am surely glad that our Air Force is busy tracking satellites.
For those too young to remember, there have been at least two Russian satellites that deorbited over the last two decades. Ah, but you say "who cares?"
You should care. Both had nuclear reactors on board. Can you imagine what an interesting scenario that a plume of radioactive debris from a burning satellite as it reenters the atmosphere might present? Especially, if it were to occur (or be predicted to occur) over a heavily populated region anywhere on earth.
Our government has an entity called the the Nuclear Emergency Support Team http://www.nv.doe.gov/library/FactSheets/NEST.pdf
This subdivision of DOE consists of multiple response teams, ready 24-7 to deploy anywhere in the world to deal with uncontrolled releases of radiation.
I, for one, certainly would like our government to know, well ahead of time, if a satellite were going to collide or deorbit that just might be carrying a fission reactor. And, to be able to predict when and where the debris would come raining down.
Joke all you want about it, but its a serious matter. And, BTW, the Ruskies aren't the only people with reactors in orbit.
And, yes, unlike our former President, I know how to spell and pronounce nuclear properly. (For any politicians in the audience).
73.
Problem is that the satellite orbit is "easy" to track While the satellite is in a stable orbit.
Once the bird starts to re-enter, it becomes virtually impossible to predict where the thing will finally hit.
It's only natural that the number of objects being tracked will increase, I just don't think that it will make a bit of difference.

You are showing your ignorance or stupidity by calling the MAJORITY of Americans cowards.
Being a coward has nothing to do with most people's decision not to join the military.
Maybe my post came off the wrong way. In now way was I calling the majority of Americans Cowards. My reference was to the trolls that was dogging our military. Usually the ones that talk so negative about our Armed Forces are cowards. I have seen it time and time again.
So if I came across the wrong way I am sorry. I just makes my blood boil when people post hateful things about our military. They are doing all they can do. And remember 96 percent of our military today joined voluntary.
If you don't anything nice to say about our Armed Forces that are dying daily then I would ask you not post. Or if you think you can do something better then by all means go and join.
96 percent of our military today joined voluntary.
Just 96%... where did you get that figure from. Even if you count everyone that WAS drafted before 1973 that is still serving, they had to re-enlist or re-commit multiple times voluntarilly. Those recalled to active duty are just fullfilling an option on the contract that they (and everyone else) signed up on.
