Default HRD Release Version 5 Build 2356

A new Beta release of HRD Version 5 - build 2356 should be on the HRD site in the next day or so. Please check the site occasionally and see if it's posted.

It has fixes for DM780 and QRZ lookup. HRD Rotor improvements and other bug fixes.

All of the bugs are never eliminated from any software. It just gets close before the next major version is released and the process starts all over again. But, v5 seems to be a solid winner. The only thing is that it gobbles up a little more memory and processor time than v4--especially if you have spots, HRDlog.net, and the DM780 superbrowser all running at the same time along with the logbook and control interface...

If we waited for all of the bugs to be cured in software, we would all be staring at a blank screen...

Very true... but I really meant "most" I guess. The V5 "to do" list issues I saw awhile back were fairly significant. I love version 4.1 and want to upgrade.... just waiting for most of the major issues to get resolved.

Doug, I have been using HRD and its ancillary apps for nearly 3 years now. Some bumps on the road, but very happy. I upgraded to v5 a month ago, and have not found anything buggy in my practice. This includes rig control, digital modes & SSTV, the new logbook, and running spots and QSL features like eQSL.cc and HRDlog.net.

could not be happier--but I expect that I will run into a bump sooner or later. Hopefully by that time v5 will have gone gold...

Well I think what I will do is install v5 on my Win7 box and give it a whirl this weekend. Gonna string a extra 20m dipole up for some digital work so this will give me an excuse to try it out!

Doug, I have been using the Beta version for about a month now and really love it! I was using Logic before, which I have used for years. Logic is a great little program, but HRD just blows it away with the addition of the digital mode software, N1MM like cluster display in addition to the tabular display, cool rotor interface with picture of the world in addition to more functions and "doo dahs!" in the logging program than you can imagine.

LoTW is still a "to do" but there is a utility by WD5EAE that automates the upload and download of LoTW. In addition the utility downloads eQSL cards so you can print those out later on for wallpaper if you like. HRD has built-in eQSL but I have not seen that it will download the actual QSL cards, but that could be my fault. The utility listed does it all well.
