For some weird reason I can't get the internet time to sync/update with Vista, I even downloaded dimension4 and atomic and then disabled the time sync in Vista.
Your help/assistance would be much appreciated because I want to use WSJT and the time updates are very important.
First check to be sure the Windows Time service is running.
In Control Panel click administrative tools start Computer Management
Click on Services and Applications
Click on Services
Find Windows Time
If it is NOT running right click on it and Start it be sure it is set to automatic.
Now open control panel
Open Date and Time
Click the Change time zone button and be sure everything is set as it should be. If you use DST be sure the check box is checked.
On the internet time tab click Change settings
Be sure to select the time site you want to sync with.

Check event log for any error related to w32time.
Also, try open a CMD window and type
w32tm /resync
See what you get - You need Administrator rights to do the resync thing
Check your firewall and AV package for blocking on ports 13, 37, and 123. TCP service is on 13 & 37, UDP on 37, and SNTP on 123. The latter is the most commonly used.
Because MS and antivirus makers figure that every user is stupid, they usually block just about everything except 20, 21, 25, 80, and 110. In most cases as far as ports go--they are right...
Also, go into your user account panel, and make sure that you still have permissions full permissions. There are admin accounts, and admin accounts. They do not seem to all be created equally!

Even though you set your account as an Administrator, Vista will still treat it as a limited account by default - thanks to User Account Control (UAC).

You don’t have to go through all that to run a command as Administrator in the command window. Just right click on the Command Prompt icon and select ‘Run as administrator’.
