Btw, you guys are lucky to have maplins, we used to have a somewhat inferior equivalent in radio shack. But alas those days are gone. I think they've admitted that they suck, and have renamed themselves "the shed" or some such nonsense.

TBH Maplins is going the same way as Radio Shack, at least the one near me is. Never have what you want in stock, and the excuses they give are ludicrous.

Great to hear! I am 20 years old and in my 3rd year of electrical engineering school but started learning electronics on my own when I was about 15. There are lots of great free websites that can be found through a search along with great books from the ARRL (I'm sure the RSGB has them too). I would give you a few links but I'll give you the link to my website page which lists a few and explains them. It is by no means a comprehensive list but will start you in a good direction. Let us know how it goes!

Talking Where to start...

[a radio genesis] In the beginning, God excited atoms to a high state so they gave off electrons, but they had nowhere to go so He created the earth and put an atmosphere on it. Now He had lightning, but no one to share this wondrous physical display of his might. So he created man in his image and held the first eyeball qso...

swiftboating - Publication of the TRUTH about past events witnessed by peers. The term came about when fellow Vietnam swiftboat vets told of the true events to counter the fabrications of John Kerry. When you hear that someone is being swiftboated, you know that the truth is being told about them. Libs fear being swiftboated.
