New England Amateur Radio Festival (NEAR Fest)
Camping Thursday and Friday Evenings, Flea gates open Friday AM and there are over 20 commercial vendors this year. May 2009 saw nearly 3,000 purchased tickets for the event with well over 2,200 people in attendance!
The Largest Gathering in the New England area. Hams come from as far as Quebec, NY, PA, Ontario, NJ, NC, FL, GA and a confirmed Oklahoma as well (talked with him on 20m)
The Festival is held twice a year and includes a HUGE prize barrel (drawing), an all night jam-fest (music), HF AM'ers, VHF FM Stereo'ers (seriously!)
Schwag includes standard flea market junk like: vintage gear, boat anchors, computers, connectors, towers, beams, paddles, QRP, Amps, Ht's, HF rigs, vhf/uhf gear, cb equipment, service manuals, bits and pieces, humor, low-balling, name-calling, over-pricing, under-pricing, hot cider, cold beer (only at your site and hidden!), Steak and Cheese, Hot Breakfast, lots of nasty coffee, fall foliage (whatever is left) and all the New England Wit and Wisdom you can handle, like tearing pages from Yankee Magazine!
This year may even feature the infamous "S word" from the weather man. We're in NH, and we deal with it. Summer comes for only a couple months a year! (translation: lots of (female dog-ing) and moaning!)
Hope y'all can come up for the quintessential New England Ham Radio Party! In the true honor and form of Hosstraders.
