I may get into the 21st Century and try computer logging for Field Day this year.
I put an ad on the Swap and Shop asking for an older laptop with Field Day logging software included.
I think the program most often used is NA.
I have a few questions:
What are the minimum computer specs needed to run a logging program like NA?
How long will the internal battery typically run a laptop?
As I will be in the mobile class, unless the laptop runs off of 12 Volts directly (I have been told that some of the have an accessory 12 volt DC jack) I would have to run it off of a pair of 120 amp hour deep cycle batteries and an inverter, and am concerned about RFI from the inverter and to and from the computer/rig. #I will run 100 Watts into #a screwdriver, the antenna will be about 7 or 8 feet from the operating position.
Sorry if these questions seem lame, but I am really not much on computers and have never used a laptop, nor had one in a vehcile around a strong RF field.
But I have worked with the RUFZ CW Training program, so I am comfortable typing calls on a keyboard, pretty good typist.
Any help appreciated.
