Glen, You have done more in your lifetime than most men will do in ten. Your stories of the good old days are great and I enjoy reading them and a lot of them have a wealth of information, or at least gives me something to google so I can find out more

Regardless if it's a 5 Watt H-T or a 500 KW broadcast transmitter, it's STILL illegal to modify it for CB!
But if you ran spread-spectrum with the beast, could you take out ALL the CB channels at the same time? Maybe there IS a use for such a mod...

Hi good buddies,
"While I am sure it would be a lot of fun to operate on channel 19 there is nobody who is mentally sound who would ever mod such a device for 11m use."
Is there any such thing as a mentally sound CBer? I'm sure that one crafty enough would find a way to get one in the back of his pick 'em up truck and toss a few more hamsters in the wheel to power it.
I love you guys, when I saw the name "Harris" I knew something was afoot.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

LNE and CGC:
It isn't that I have done more in my lifetime, but that I seem to have the "knack" for being in the right place at the wrong time!
Like the time I rounded a corner in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, one evening and almost literally ran into Lyndon B. Johnson (just a few weeks after the Kennedy assasination). One of his secret service bodyguards wasn't doing his job (he should have been standing where he could see around the corner of the building). I rounded the corner and ran right into the secret service man's back. Fortunately, I saw what was going on (Johnson was just getting out of his limo and going into the hotel) and threw up my hands. Johson came over and appologized for his man not doing a proper job and shook my hand. I was a sophomore at Georgia Tech at the time. There was not a single person on the street at the time except for Johnson's security people and the people from the Dinkler Plaza Hotel.
Or the time that I met 3 Communist Party of the United States "agitators" one evening during the first major civil rights happenings in Atlanta, Georgia. I was with 2 fraternity brothers one of whom had an assignment from one of his professors to interview both sides of the situation. I met Lester Maddox (who became a 2 time governor of the State of Georgia) the next day going with the fraternity brother who was doing the assignment.
I have personally met Presidents Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Kennedy or Ford. Met Bush 43 and Carter the first time when they were running for governor of their respective states. As for their politics there were a couple that I definitely did not agree with. But, whether or not I agree with a President's political stance I still have great respect for the office.

Hmmm, maybe there needs to be a TV channel at 27.200MHz...I will get the service manual for it this week if you will get the transmitter and I will find what diode to clip

No need to clip diodes. Just plug in a new crystal and 're-toon."

are you a moron? No really. i mean it are you? I know of a group on channel 6 cb in cali that have keydowns and none even use that much power.... i'm sure the rf will not be good for you... and my goodness...alot of ligitimate truckers use channel 19 for info.. especially in central BC here (avelance areas) and on the Trans Canada across western Canada... and as for the US 19 is a truckers channel almost offically... now as for this being a 'good way to get on hf'... *shivers* if you were running a 1kw amp on 6 or something i couldn't care less... but that much power on 19 is not only illegal and plain unneighbourly but is just plain moronic... how long have you been out of the 'special hospital' *laughs*
-
Even morons have a right to laugh. Whether they're in the "hospital" or have escaped.
Beside. If the FCC came calling, we could just say it's a diathermy machine. A LONG range diathermy machine.
