    Hi all,

Now that the summer VHF/UHF operating conditions are starting to show up I see more and more posts regarding band openings. They are fleeting, lasting a few hours at best so why tell us after the fact? You'd be doing us a service by posting on a DX cluster so we could get in on the action rather reading about it when it's all over.

Just wondering since the "announcements" in QST are two months after the fact and are worse than useless. (;->)

Simple. These folks are BRAGGING about where they talked to.

No insult, no prejudice, no problem.

I am glad for them...they actually ENJOYED using their radio.
    God loves you .

Be as nice as you can to others.

I type real slow for those of you who can not read fast.

If I interpret this topic correctly it is a bitch because QST post's band openings since the last issue was printed. For those who for what ever reason are not active, but still have a sincere interest I would think it would be good information.

I am aware that Ham Radio has gone through some drastic and not always complementary changes, especially in this new 21st Century. The Century of change,so maybe the operating methods have changed.

A few years back when I was chasing VHF/UHF DX the method was to monitor the band, TV signals, even the Hiway Patrol on 42 MCs, any thing to indicate that the MUF was moving upward.

This new modern method appears to be to sit around on their derriere and wait for some one to notify them the band is open.
I am the first to declare that I do not always understand the logic behind some of the new 21st Century changes, this being a case in point.

Sounds like you were describing me with that comment. I've been inactive for years now, but I still read about band openings and probagation on a daily basis.

Speaking of being inactive, I'm changing that by purchasing a rig this coming week!

I guess I am to dense to use these "modern methods", I don't even know HOW to use an internet dx cluster.

I could probably design one, I do internet/networking and that kinda stuff for a living, just seems easier to listen to.. rf.. to see if there's stuff happening with rf.. Some things are just over technologicalized. (See, I'm even inventing words for it).

On the other hand I work nites, it might be nice to have an alarm... "BRAPPP!! 10 meters is open!! "

A'well on other hand it is nice to have a choice.. if you choose to use the spotting stuff and it works for ya... Enjoy yer radio!
